Slowly warm-up before every training session. Explosive movements are typical in KARATE, so be methodical about your warm-up. Include all major joints and muscles, head-to-toes or toes-to-head. Be mindful: randomly doing exercises that you just happen to remember is bad practice and you should avoid it. Ensure your body produces enough energy, and increase your body temperature to make your muscles and joints comfortable during training.
Gear your warm-up session toward preparing for the specific needs of your training session (i.e. emphasis on upper body; sparring or else).

This essential karate training guide was produced for my students in response to COVID-19 and the temporary closure of the DOJO. Please enjoy your training. OSU!   Sandra Contreras (Sensei)
